Frequently Asked Questions

Mnemba Island is a privately owned conservation area, so landing on the island itself is not permitted. However, the surrounding waters and reefs are open and are where all the magic happens: snorkeling, dolphin spotting, and the sandbank visit all take place in this stunning marine area.
Dolphins are wild animals, so sightings can never be 100% guaranteed. That said, the waters around Mnemba are home to a large resident pod of bottlenose dolphins, and we see them on the vast majority of our tours. Your guide knows exactly where to look.
Yes! Life jackets are provided and included in the tour. Your guide will stay with you throughout and can assist less confident swimmers. The snorkeling spots are generally calm and shallow enough for beginners to enjoy comfortably.
We recommend bringing swim wear, a towel, sunscreen and maybe a hat to protect against the sun. All snorkeling equipment is provided by us, you don't need to bring your own.
At low tide, a beautiful strip of white sand emerges from the ocean near Mnemba Island. We'll stop there so you can wade in the turquoise water, take photos, and enjoy a fresh fruit platter. Please note that the sandbank is only accessible at low tide, so visibility depends on the tide schedule on the day of your tour.
The boat departs from Muyuni Beach on the east coast of Zanzibar. The ride to the Mnemba area takes roughly 15–20 minutes, depending on sea conditions.
We use a private fiber boat with your own captain and guide.
We recommend booking add-ons in advance so we can plan the logistics, but subject to availability, we can sometimes accommodate same-day requests. Just let us know.
Absolutely. This is a family-friendly tour and kids usually love the dolphin and snorkeling experience. Life jackets are available in smaller sizes.
Safety comes first. We always check the weather forecast the evening before and if conditions are too rough, we'll offer you the choice to reschedule to another day or receive a full refund. Please note that weather on Zanzibar can change quickly, so on rare occasions conditions may shift once a tour is already underway.
Tips are not included in the tour price but are always appreciated by your guide and boat crew if you enjoyed the experience.
Yes, the tour can be cancelled up to 24 hours before the start time. Just send us a message on WhatsApp or an email with your booking reference and we will issue a full refund to the original payment method.
The remaining 80% can be paid after the tour in cash (we accept euros, dollars and tanzanian shillings with their respective rates) or by card in advance (+5% fee). If you would like to pay by card please let us know the day before the tour. Alternatively, you can pay the full amount by card when booking without any fees.
